I absolutely LOVE when my clients want to include a chic bar into their engagement images! I will ALWAYS mention this place when doing so. They are so lenient and accommodating - I am never intruding on service or the patrons - which is really important when you use this venue. The drinks are always TOP NOTCH!

Our first time at this establishment since it changed hands and it certainly will not be our last. My husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed the craft cocktails and conversation with Moriah. Looking forward to returning on a night when they have live entertainment.

Stopped in for happy hour and I’m glad I did. I had an artisan cocktail and a burrata appetizer, both delicious. Service was good and the staff was great!

Bar Max is an absolute gem in Hartford! Every visit over the past few months has been an absolute pleasure. The cocktails, food, and ambiance are all top-tier. The menu is creative yet appeals to a wide range of tastes, making it a go-to spot for any occasion. As someone who has been obsessed with the specialty cocktail scene in Hartford over the past year, I have to give a huge shoutout to the bar manager Moriah, for curating an amazing menu. Her staff is incredible—every drink is consistently well-made, no matter who’s behind the bar. The food always comes out quickly, and I have to say, the mac and cheese I had the other night was fantastic. I recently got to try all the special drinks from 90’s Con weekend with my friends, and every single one was a hit. The bartenders are friendly and engaging, and we’ve had some of the best conversations here—even making new friends at the bar! Beyond that, Bar Max is a perfect date night spot. My partner and I love coming here together, whether we’re sitting at the bar chatting with the staff or hanging out at one of the little tables for a more private, intimate experience. There’s plenty of seating throughout the space, so it never feels overcrowded, even when it gets busy at night. I also love how vibrant Bar Max is in the evenings. It’s always bustling with energy, and seeing the events and weddings happening next door at The Goodwin hotel which just adds to the charm. Plus, its location is perfect—right near major event spaces in downtown Hartford, making it a great spot to start or end a night out. Highly recommend Bar Max for anyone looking for top-notch drinks, great food, and an incredible atmosphere!

Went on a Thursday night in January and they had a lovely jazz guitar trio playing all my favorite songs. I heard they were from Boston so it made it even more fun! The vibe was relaxed and the Prosecco and rose were delicious. I highly recommend adding it to your MUST DO list for Hartford.

Lovely time in downtown Hartford for some late night drinks and ice cream. What drew us in was this lovely music trio, Madison Blues. Fast service and wonderful ambiance. Definitely glad to have popped in. A very pleasant surprise.
